Alien Queen Scale Test

The title of "Swarmlord" is gender neutral!

Here is the Konami Alien Queen kit I plan on running as the swarmlord with my current "xenomorph" project.  I included the space marine to give a sense of scale to the pic.  While the model certainly is not WYSIWYG considering the lack of bone swords, I think the overall theme of the finished collection should overcome any naysayers.

I have been hard at work shaving and filing all 480 genestealer arms, as well as removing the stock heads from bodies.  About 50 genestealer heads into last night, I slipped with my exacto knife and prematurely painted some minis blood red.  Nothing a few drops of Zap-A-Gap couldn't fix, but the healing process of the tip of my index finger has given me this evening off.  Hence the photo shoot.

So what do you guys think?  Too big?  Too small?  Too non-WYSIWYG?  I am interested in hearing opinions.

  1. She fits your theme, I say go for it. I have an unassembled pewter one that's about 2/3 the size if you're interested, but I think you should stick with that one. Can't wait to see the rest of the swarm.

  2. It is a little skinny, but about the same size. Looks pretty good.
Also, a little trick I learned, putting a band-aid on the finger (before cutting your finger) can help keep the blade off the finger long enough to react.

  3. I would consider arm swaps or maybe some arm blades modeled on (a la Batman) - something is needed as at least a weak nod to wysiwyg. Really good size I think, comparable in height. Skinny, but it's supposed to be.

  4. Love it - although surely she should be the Swarmlady???

  5. The queen needs to hit the gym.

  6. #2501: Thanks for the offer Mark, but I think I am going to run with this model.

TheGraveMind: I used the band-aid trick last night. Thanks!

Ghostin: The queen certainly is pretty thin. But then, that is a choice that was made by James Cameron, not me.

the 6th degree: The Swarm-missus perhaps?

islyfe: She certainly does. I guess spending your life inert, attached to a larva-like birthing thorax, is an alien equivalent of playing World of Warcraft for a few years.
