They mostly come at night. Mostly.

Coffee-fueled hobby weekends can also bring the beasts into the light...

As you can see in the pic above, I have made some serious progress on my Aliens army.  What started with some overzealous overbrushing,

Took a sudden turn for the metallics,

And before I knew it, the project was well underway.  Sure, I had to take a break when I burned-out the compressor for my airbrush, but then the color fade was well worth the smoke and ozone inhalation.

My father was kind enough to punch out over 100 discs of magnetic sheeting, which makes the Weyland-Yutani corporate whiteboard an ideal display surface.  While I wouldn't flip the display board over, I shouldn't have to worry about minis sliding off the tray as I go from table to table.

The whiteboard is multi-purpose, as I can use it with a dry-erase marker to keep track of kill points, reserves, or objectives if need be.  Sure, the display board ends up a bit plain, but I think the corporate logo, combined with the life-sized facehugger, more than satisfies my aesthetic.  While it is true that I could have gone nuts recreating some corner of Hadley's Hope, or the surface of LV426, I think that my end result depicted above is far more unique than a simple diorama.

I just spent a few hours detailing the claws on the minis, and the collection should be ready to dip in the next week or so.  As predicted, this project has come together rather quickly.  Just in time for 6th edition!

  2. Seeing this massive amount of minis to be painted makes my head hurt. Great job! I wouldn't dare take on a project like that.

  3. Oooh you should make some infested Nostromo escape pods to use as Mycetic Spores. That'd awesome.

Sorry, didn't mean to add to your workload ;)
