Alien Queen / Swarmlord Detail

I am quite pleased with how the Alien Queen turned out.  Here are some close-up shots of the model, displaying the detail of the base embellishments.

Here, you can see the details and markings on the power loader arm, painted-on.  Naturally, I made sure the arm matched the machine Ripley used in Aliens.

This picture should give you a sense of scale for the model, compared to a land raider tank.  That is from a Work in Progress collection I have percolating on my desk, at the moment. More on that in a future post.

More detail.

In profile.

There you have it.  The Queen herself is a Konami-made model.  I cut many of her joints, added some wire for support, and re-posed her with some putty work to cover the modifications.  The base is from Secret Weapon Miniatures, and the power loader arm was taken from a Kubrick toy.  I am happy with the results. Although looking at the pics just now makes me want to go back and raise some of the highlights on the roll of copper wire... back to the grind!

  1. I have painted a lot of models in my day, but this collection really has been like a "nerd-opus" for me. I think I got into 40k because of the alien films, so it's like, a meta-art back-pat from the 41st millennium.
